Sustainable commitment
The Festival Country Lotbinière (FCL) is a major cultural event celebrating country music and attracting thousands of visitors. Aware of its environmental impact, FCL adopts eco-responsible initiatives to reduce its ecological footprint. Through a policy of sustainable development, the festival mobilizes volunteers, partners and festival-goers to combine fun, community and sustainability. Its long-term ambition is to become a model of sustainable development among Quebec festivals.

Prioritize local businesses, artisans and producers for all aspects of festival organization.

Prioritize local partnerships, exchange with local social players and organizations, and support initiatives that promote the economy and well-being of citizens.

Integrate innovative practices that promote long-term sustainability while enhancing the participant experience
SOME OF OUR ACTIONS

- Designing new display media with sustainability in mind:
-Removable and adjustable arrows
-Space for modifications in future editions-Date deletion on displays
- Agreement with food suppliers to eliminate single-use containers and utensils
- Avoid food waste by adjusting portion sizes
- Surplus food donated to dedicated community organizations
- Setting up a first-aid area accessible 24 hours a day, with professionals, staff and specialized equipment on site.
- Addition of a sorting center in the foodcourt in collaboration with CRECA, ADDERE and the MRC de Lotbinière.
- Disposal of plastic water bottles on site
- Prioritizing durable items that festival-goers can keep and reuse, such as sunglasses, rather than ephemeral options like light-up objects.
- Reuse old materials (coroplasts, pieces of wood, boxes, tubs, cones, etc.) to limit waste, notably by finding other uses for them (protection, DIY, etc.).
- Creation of a shuttle service for festival-goers
- Working with partners to ban the distribution of single-use promotional items.
